Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the OdoNote app ("the app") and this website do with data. The app is provided by Eric Z ("we"). Contact for any privacy question: candy66861@gmail.com.
Summary
- You don't create an account. The app works fully offline.
- Your vehicles, records, photos and documents are stored only on your device, in the app's local database. We cannot see them.
- We receive only anonymous usage statistics (you can turn them off) and feedback you choose to send.
- If the app crashes, a crash report is sent through Firebase Crashlytics (no records included).
- No location, no advertising identifier, no ads, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing of data for advertising.
1. Data that stays on your device
Vehicles (name, make, model, plate, VIN if you enter them), fuel and charging entries, service and repair records, expenses, reminders, documents such as insurance or inspection details, and the photos or PDFs you attach are stored in the app's database on your device. This data is not sent to us, and we have no access to it.
Receipt text recognition (Pro) runs on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Images are not uploaded.
The app also keeps up to 7 daily snapshots of your data inside the app's own storage on your device, so you can roll back mistakes.
To delete this data: use Settings → Delete all data in the app, or delete the app to remove its local data.
2. Data we receive
Anonymous usage statistics
To learn which features are used and where the app breaks down, the app sends short event records to our server, for example "fuel entry saved" or "export completed". Each event contains:
- a random installation ID created by the app (not the advertising identifier; a new one is created if you reinstall);
- the event name, time and a session ID;
- app version and build, iOS version, device model, language/region setting and time zone;
- coarse properties such as entry type, vehicle type, energy type, unit setting and counts rounded into ranges (for example "50–199 records");
- for purchases: the product ID, price and currency reported by the App Store.
Events never contain vehicle names, plates, VINs, notes, shop or station names, amounts from your records or your location. You can turn statistics off at any time in Settings → Send anonymous usage data; the app then stops sending events from the next launch.
Retention: individual events are deleted after 90 days; daily totals per event name (no installation ID) are kept for up to 400 days.
Feedback you send
If you use Settings → Feedback, we receive your message, the category you pick, your language, the app version, a random feedback ID used only to limit abuse (not the installation ID used for statistics, so feedback can't be linked to usage data) and, only if you add it, your e-mail address. You can also choose to attach a diagnostics summary, which you can preview before sending: app and iOS version, device model, language, number of vehicles and records, total attachment size and number of scheduled reminders. It contains none of your records.
We use feedback only to answer you and to fix problems. Retention: up to 2 years, or earlier on request.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, a crash report is sent through Firebase Crashlytics, a service of Google LLC: the stack trace, device model, iOS version, app version, free memory and disk space, and a Crashlytics installation ID. It contains none of your records. Google keeps crash reports for 90 days.
Technical data when you connect
Our server runs on Cloudflare. To deliver requests, Cloudflare processes your IP address and technical request data. We do not store IP addresses in our database.
3. What we don't do
- We don't request location, contacts, microphone, Bluetooth or tracking permission.
- We don't use the advertising identifier, show ads or include advertising or analytics SDKs from ad networks.
- We don't sell or rent data, and we don't share it with data brokers.
- We don't use your data for automated decisions or profiling.
4. Permissions
- Camera and Photos: only when you tap to attach a receipt, scan a document or pick a vehicle photo. The images stay on your device.
- Notifications: for your reminders. They are scheduled on your device; no push server is involved.
5. Purchases
OdoNote Pro is sold by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details. The app checks your purchase on the device with StoreKit.

Where data leaves the European Economic Area, the UK, Korea or Japan, the transfer relies on the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
7. Legal bases (EEA and UK)
- Usage statistics: our legitimate interest in improving the app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time by switching statistics off.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): our legitimate interest in keeping the app reliable (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Feedback: to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); your optional e-mail address is provided with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Most data about you never reaches us. For statistics and feedback, write to candy66861@gmail.com and include the installation ID shown in Settings → About, so we can find the records. We answer within 30 days.
9. Children
The app is a tool for vehicle owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA).
10. Security
Data is transferred over HTTPS. Access to our server's database is limited to us. Your records are protected by your device's passcode.
11. Changes
If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and the date above before the app update ships, and describe the change in the release notes.
